Big and small waves in Moliets

Since moving house turned into such a lengthy and demanding project I decided to go on a spontaneous surfing holiday to get my sanity back. I booked the last pre-season course with Wavetours - my very favorite agency for surf camps (actually, the only one I went on camps with and I wasn't disappointed :)

I'm not going to elaborate on my 12 hour car trip from Berlin to Frankfurt from where I flew out to Biarritz (involving a massive traffic jam, car breaking down and abandonment from most of my Mitfahrzentrale-passengers).

So I arrived at the camp that was advertised as "the party camp" in Moliets. But due to the early season the place was pretty quiet, so was the camp, which (luckily) consisted of only around 17 participants (aged from 16 to 40, a good mix from banker to piercer). After the first days in the water partying wasn't quite on my agenda anyway due to aching body parts and early rising for (voluntary) pre-breakfast surfing.

For 2 days the waves were small and fun (I have to say, I kind of missed the challenge) but the weather was rainy and cold, later in the week the sun came out but the waves turned shitty (too much of a challenge, at least for me). Nevertheless, I had a great time and absolutely didn't want to leave the sea, waves, camp, being outside in exchange for sitting in hot, stuffy offices. Adjustment period not over yet, still dreaming about falling off my board and getting washed to the beach...
